Ludlow GC | Seniors Section
The Seniors play regularly on an informal basis (Mon,Wed,Fri) depending on course availability, and this is an excellent way to join in and get to know other members of the club, and share in some friendly banter after each round.
There are a number of competitions held throughout the year for Seniors Men.
Monthly Roll-Ups … held at the beginning of each month, either stableford or medal, a number of these doubling-up as either qualifiers or trophy competitions.
Fun competitions … arranged subject to the club calendar.
Tom Smart Trophy … held annually in March with local golf clubs invited to enter a four man team for this 18 hole event.
Seniors Scratch Open … held annually in April
Seniors Open Better Ball … held annually in August
Seniors Open AM-AM … held annually in early October
Graham White Trophy and John Rees Trophy … held annually at a venue determined by the winner of the previous year’s competition.
Winter League … league competition with high/low pairing progressing to knockout.
Vets Trophy … knockout competition with handicap plus age allowance
Peakes Putter … 9 hole competition held every year prior to AGM.
Throughout the year a number of matches are arranged with local teams generally on a home and away basis, a number of these being tri-matches. These matches provide a very enjoyable day out with a ‘friendly’ betterball competition followed by convivial hospitality and a well-earned meal.
There is also a competition for the Custance Cup played twice yearly (March and September) between the Seniors Section and Ludlow Ladies.
Details of all competitions are to be found on the notice board and as can be seen the seniors section is very busy and always welcomes new members who will be guaranteed golf in a very friendly environment.
